- No excuse not to carry now! (review by Nate on 12/14/2015)
I was looking for a compact, hard hitting CCW piece that I could conceal in any of my jeans. After much research I chose a Bond. Yes, it only has two shots. Using a firearm is a last resort so two shots of 45 ACP, plus the intimidation factor of two barrels, should resolve any threat. I also appreciate the ability to purchase additional barrels for the same frame. I find the Backup's weight not cumbersome and I am thankful that it is there. Recoil is stout but manageable for me. My wife fired one barrel and handed it back to me. My dad, a Vietnam Vet, fired both barrels and said "That will take some getting used to." Accuracy has been better than expected at self defense distances. The bottom barrel goes right where I aim it and top barrel is a few inches higher. Aim COM and the bullets will go where you want them to. I have been shooting 230 grain Federal FMJ. This is my carry load as I doubt a hollow point will work as intended with so short a barrel. When in my pocket the Backup looks like a wad of keys. I have gone about my daily routine, done housework and done yard work and often forgot it was in my pocket. Will this be my first choice of weapon knowing I am going into a fight? No, but it is a weapon that I have no excuse not to carry because of wardrobe.
