- So far, so good. (review by Tom on 4/4/2015)
I was a bit hesitant about buying a IO riffle base on quality issues of older products they made before relocating there operation to Florida. When I arrived at my local FFL dealer to pick it up, the first words out of his mouth was, "this is about the best looking AK I've ever seen." I was instantly relieved about my prior concerns. He did find scratching of the wood on the lower hand guard caused by one of the magazines that was in the case(we found wood flakes on a corner of a mag and wood flakes on the foam liner of the included case.) This was done by Classic Firearms, NOT IO. Before I took possession, I called IO, got Jim from customer service and he said they would send me out a new lower hand guard.
The fit and finish are excellent, all the rivets are straight and flush, the wood stock and forward grips are gorgeous, the only thing; they put a large US flag sticker on the stock, I used Goo B Gone to remove the sticky residue-worked great and didn't hurt the wood finish.
The trigger is excellent, almost zero take up and a nice crisp break. Mine came with 1 black and 1 burnt orange magazine.
