Great starter pistol for competition
I've heard about Canik TP9sfx being used in competitions over the year (both 3 gun and pistol only matches) and wanted to give it a try. I'm currently using M&P Pro and STI 2011 in competitions so I do know what a comp gun is supposed to do/feel. The model purchased is a blacked out model, with Warren sights. The front fiber optics lite pipe is 0.10" which is just right. Trigger is outstanding out of the box. It has quite a bit of take up, clean break with a short and tactile reset (unlike my M&P trigger). The pistol package comes with paddle style holster with retention and 2 - 20 rds magazines. Holster is solid, well made, but not usable in competition due to paddle and retention lock design. Been too cold to do any extensive testing but it functioned as intended with 115 gr FMJ factory ammo and my match loads of 115 gr JHPs. This pistol is well worth the $ and great for competitions or just plain target shooting without breaking the bank!

Canik TP9SFX an entry level platform for competition and target shooting
Cons: - small HD fiberoptic frt sight is hard to see in cloudy or low light conditions. Trigger came in at 4.5-5lbs out of box. (added spring kit to reduce to 3.5-4). Heavy Recoil spring has weak ejection on standard power range ammo.
Pros:- excellent ergos, very accurate, ability to mount RMR, hi cap good functioning mags, Short trigger reset, good quality finish on slide, with a diff front sight would be excellent at home defense, fantastic on steel targets-transition is intuitive and easy, Oh and it looks amazing.
